About this event

Welcome back for our 4th annual Undies Screening!

Come celebrate the films created by SVA BFA Animation students over the past year and support your friends and classmates. Our incoming freshman class of 2026 is also invited to participate on our judging panel for the Undies Awards as per tradition. All audience members will also be able to vote on the winner of the 2022 Undies Audience Choice Award.

Films will be screened, awards will be won, and much fun will be had! We hope to see you there!

The Undies is a 3-hour screening event exclusively showcasing all finished films created during the previous year by the School of Visual Arts (SVA) BFA Animation underclass students. It is a platform of recognition and exposure to celebrate the creativity and artistry of animation. Prizes will be given in a total of six categories, including 1) Best In Show, 2) Best Animation, 3) Best Production Design, 4) Best Soundtrack, 5) Best Story, and 6) “Dirty Undies” distinctions. Awards will be juried by ballot during the event exclusively by attending SVA BFA Animation Department first-year students.

COVID Protocols for Event Attendees

Vaccination Requirements

  • All those entering SVA Theatre (including guests and event staff) need to be fully vaccinated with an FDA / WHO authorized COVID vaccine (listed here) and must show proof of vaccination upon entrance. “Fully vaccinated” means at least 14 days past the final dose of the vaccine received.
  • Events hosted by School of Visual Arts (SVA) departments also require guests to show proof of a booster, if eligible. (Boosters will not be required for After School Special events from 9/21-9/25/22). Recipients of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines become eligible for a booster six months after their second dose, and recipients of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine become eligible two months after their single dose. Those not yet eligible for a booster (or within two weeks of eligibility) will be able to enter provided they are two weeks past their second dose in a two-dose vaccine series or two weeks after receiving a single-dose vaccine. Children under the age of 12 do not need to show proof of a booster. Examples of SVA departmental events include Accepted Students Day, thesis presentations, lectures/screenings hosted by SVA departments, etc. If you are unsure if the event you’re attending is an SVA departmental event, please visit our calendar and click on the applicable event. At the top of the event page, it will note if boosters are required to attend.
  • The only exception to the above will be for those who need reasonable accommodations due to a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief. Guests requesting an exemption must provide proof of the exemption, in addition to either a negative COVID PCR test taken within 72 hours of the event, or a negative COVID rapid antigen test taken within 6 hours of the event. At-home test results will not be accepted unless the test provides time-stamped, digital authentication of a negative result via an app, website, or email.
  • Guests may present proof of vaccination (or a negative test, if applicable) on paper or a smartphone. Smartphone apps such as the NY State Excelsior Pass, NYC COVID Safe, CLEAR Health Pass, Docket (NJ), CT WiZ (CT), etc. are acceptable forms of proof and are preferred over physical (or photographs of) vaccination cards.
  • In addition to proof of vaccination, all guests 18 years or older must also present a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport. The name on the ID must match the name on the proof of vaccination / negative test. Guests under 18 may use a school photo ID or must be accompanied by an adult who meets the above requirements.

Masks

  • Everyone entering SVA Theatre must wear approved face coverings that cover the nose and mouth at all times. CDC guidelines state that bandanas, gaiters, or masks with vents/valves are not approved. If you do not have an approved mask, please see an SVA Theatre representative, who will provide one free of charge (as supplies last).
  • Masks may be removed briefly in order to drink water or other non-alcoholic beverages.

Food & Drink

  • Only water and other non-alcoholic beverages are allowed inside SVA Theatre. Food is not currently permitted.

Venue Cleanliness / Sanitization

  • SVA Theatre is properly cleaned and sanitized following events, and during events when necessary.
  • Hand sanitizing stations are present throughout the venue.
  • SVA Theatre’s HVAC system has been outfitted with MERV-13 filters.

Guests who do not comply with the above protocols will be denied entry, or may be removed at the discretion of SVA Theatre staff.

To assist with the check-in process, we encourage guests to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the event start time.
